PET Lamp Pikul Set of 9 (Assorted)
PET Lamp Pikul takes its name after Mimusops Elengi’s flower. The flower forms a geometric pattern inspiring the traditional Pikul pattern which can be found in many of the crafts of Thailand.
Two of the main features of the PET Lamp Pikul are that it is made out of bamboo and that the PET bottle is housed inside, rather than outside the lamp, as in the previous collections. The plastic bottles are always transparent and the cable cord black, bringing a focus on the precise bamboo weaving.
Álvaro Catalán de Ocón’s studio was invited to collaborate with the Traditional Bamboo Handicraft Centre, a foundation supported by her Majesty Queen Sirikit that enjoys a distinguished reputation in the field of handicrafts in the country.
Thai bamboo basketry is characterized by a controlled and studied manufacturing production process. The material requires skill and mastery, to such a great degree, that three expert craftsmen are needed to complete each Pikul lamp.
PET Lamp Pikul is produced in three different sizes: Small, Medium and Large and in Sets of 3, 6 and 9.
